Much praise for volunteering at the mayor's reception

One theme that ran through all the speeches at yesterday's reception was the great commitment of the many volunteers Warnemünder Woche. On behalf of the Hanseatic and university city of Rostock, Dr. Chris von Wrycz Rekowski, acting mayor, with all helpers as well as the partners and sponsors of the Warnemünder Woche. “My thanks go to the over 400 volunteers who worked at the event,” said Stefanie Drese, Minister for Social Affairs, Health and Sport in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. In keeping with tradition, the new poster for the 85th edition was presented at the reception. Warnemünder Woche (July 1 to 9, 2023).

Dr. described it as a “great event” with a very good atmosphere. Chris von Wrycz Rekowski the Warnemünder Woche and regretted that due to time constraints he had not yet had much opportunity to attend the event extensively. “The challenge for the future will be to keep the awareness of tradition high,” he said with regard to the future Warnemünder Wochen. The 85th edition of the sailing and festival week should definitely be particularly special next year.

The interim conclusion on the sailing part was very positive Warnemünder Woche from Torsten Schranck, chairman of the Warnemünde Sailing Club, from: “After two years of drought, this year’s Warnemünder Woche Almost 1.000 participants from 21 nations took part. The whole spectrum is represented, from the youngest sailors in Opti to the older sailors. I am very satisfied with the event. It can continue like this.” He thanked the Hanseatic city of Rostock for the good cooperation.

Astrid Voß, chairwoman of the Warnemünde Association, also spoke during the speeches. “After a two-year break, we were finally able to start the Niege Ümgang again. The atmosphere was great. This is how athletes must feel when they are carried to the finish line by spectators. It couldn’t be better,” she summed up. The actors took particularly long and intensive preparations for the parade and the summer festival. Because after the two-year break, the motto was: “Now it has to happen again.”

The poster for the 85th Warnemünder Woche, which will take place from July 1st to 9th, 2023, was ceremoniously unveiled on stage after the speeches in the presence of designer Pepe Hartmann. When asked what inspired him to design the new poster, Pepe Hartmann, graphic designer and long-time event photographer, said: Warnemünder Woche, the waves. “The first thing I design on the poster are the waves, which should look like the typical Warnemünde swell. “Then comes the color scheme,” explained the Hamburg resident who designed the poster Warnemünder Woche been designed for 25 years. His signature as a designer is also clearly visible on the new poster, which is characterized by the reduction to a few, high-contrast colors and clear lines.
