Just in time for the 88th. Warnemünder Woche The Dragon Boat Festival in its 28th edition at the Alten Strom also provides another water sports highlight.

What is the Dragon Boat Festival?
The traditional sport, which originally comes from China, has been firmly established in Rostock for decades.
In a dragon boat with a length of 12,55 m, 20 or 10 paddling enthusiasts find their place on the left and right to stir up the Old River with their paddles. A drummer at the front of the boat ensures the right rhythm and the helmsman at the back of the boat ensures the correct course.
As the organizer, SV Breitling eV from Rostock brings a special competition atmosphere to Warnemünde for participants and spectators. With the help of important supporters such as the LT Club Rostock, the DLRG, a well-rehearsed moderation team and the volunteer club members, a special festival atmosphere will be created on land and on the water from July 11th to 12th, 2026.
The Dragon Boat Festival features:
- a strong competitive atmosphere with up to 70 regional and international teams from former European/world champions, sports teams, company teams to beginners who are gaining their first dragon boat experience
- another point of attraction Warnemünder Woche thanks to a good view of the impressive water sports arena of the Alten Strom in Warnemünde
- exciting, emotional and thrilling racing feeling
- Race distances from 100m to 280m, on an easily visible route
- First-class presentation and entertainment during the two festival days
- Culinary delights for athletes and visitors from the LT Club Rostock
- Emotional award ceremony and after-show party for the entire starting field and the event helpers
