83rd WARNEMÜNDER WEEK opens
The program moderated by Stefan Kuna from NDR 1 Radio MV started with the parade of the historical figures. The subsequent couples exchange dance “Happy Circle” by the Warnemünde traditional costume group conveyed joy of life, in which even presenter Kuna danced along. The group said goodbye with a dance performance to the Radetzky March and handed over the stage to the singer and guitarist Carl Z., who sang about the Baltic Sea resort with the songs “Warnemünde – Que sera, what will be” and “Warnemünde Girls”. The line dancers “Dancing Heels” then brought a Wild West atmosphere to the Kurhausgarten with a dance performance. According to an old tradition, the shanty choir “De Klaashahns” provided a maritime atmosphere. Everyone who appeared was happy to be back at the event after the Corona-related break Warnemünder Woche to be there on stage, to watch. “When you look at the happy faces in the audience from the stage, you think: Great!” commented Astrid Voß, chairwoman of the non-profit association for Warnemünde.
This year, Regine Lück, President of the Rostock Citizens' Association, took over the tapping of the draft beer at the Rostock Hanseatic Brewery as a traditional opening ritual, with strong blows of the hammer and said: “I hereby declare this Warnemünder Woche “Opened.” Matthias Fromm, tourism director for Rostock and Warnemünde, described it as an international figurehead at the opening ceremony Warnemünder Woche: “Warnemünde is more international than ever these days.”
