Preview: OK dinghies and Finns from Friday

44 OK dinghies and 14 Finns will be at the 84th from Friday. Warnemünder Woche sailing, including the three-time OK dinghy world champion André Budzien from Schwerin.

A strong field of 44 OK dinghies will compete in Warnemünde from Friday, July 8th. There are many outstanding sailors on the entry list. Above all, Schwerin's top sailor André Budzien. Budzien, who competes for the Schwerin Yacht Club, is considered the big favorite of the regatta. Among other things, it is adorned with the world championship titles of the OK dinghies from 2012, 2015 and, as part of the Warnemünder Woche achieved the World Cup victory in 2018. He is also a multiple and reigning German champion and won the Kiel Week at the end of June.

Bo Petersen from Denmark in particular is likely to give him competition. The European champion from 2013 and 2016 came a close second behind Budzien in Kiel. In 2021 he narrowly beat him there and relegated him to second place.

Greg Wilcox is also usually at the front of the OK dinghies. The New Zealander, who lives in Berlin, became world champion in 2002 and second at the Warnemünder Woche 2019.

Together with the OK dinghies, the Finns will be going on the Charlie track from Friday. Fabian Lemmel from the Sailing Association 1903 Berlin is also second in the Finn rankings Warnemünder Woche-Winner of 2019 announced. In addition to Lemmel, 13 other Finns are expected.

Finns and Corsairs plan to complete a total of ten races by Sunday. First start is Friday at 13 p.m.
