Race Office boss Jutta Mohr: Without Warnemünder Woche? Only in a wheelchair!

For Jutta Mohr it is Warnemünder Woche the milestone in her life. After all, her parents, Beate and Dieter Goldschmidt, as active sailors, took part in the sailing competitions this week, which are firmly anchored in the regatta calendars of the best sailors in the world - the father as chairman of the Warnemünde Sailing Club, the mother as a race director and later as jury chairwoman for the Baltic Sea regattas and the later ones Warnemünder Wochen.

As a newborn, Jutta slept best in the foredeck of the “Vlimmus” in strong storms and swells. Little by little she grew sea legs. She was always at the Baltic Sea regattas at her big sister's hand, let her legs dangle in the water, learned to distinguish between boat classes, heard the different signals from the starters, knew how to quickly recognize flags and, in general, she met her husband here as an adult Manfred, who was responsible for the sea courses in the competition management while she was sailing.

The year 1997 then became another important date. She joined the Warnemünde Sailing Club full-time and, together with Jörn Etzold, became one of the veterans of the club Warnemünder Woche. For ten years she was largely responsible for organizing this top-class sailing event in the first week of July in the lake area off Warnemünde.

From New Year's Day 2008, the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Sailing Association brought the competent woman on board as a sports coordinator - based on the Mittelmole in Warnemünde.

The year is 2022, it is the 84th. Warnemünder Woche, her 25th. Of course she's back in volunteer work and still in the Race Office. “All sailors who start here from the middle pier register with us directly on site after they have announced their participation on the Internet. We check your insurance for the boats, hand over the regatta documents and are a service partner for each individual sailor with his or her special concerns. If there are protests during the races, we are also responsible for them and hand everything over to the jury,” explains Jutta Mohr. She adds with a smile: “Without in the Warnemünder Woche I can't even imagine being in the middle of it all. Then the wheelchair would have to be at the door and the doctor would have to certify dementia!”
