H-Boat World Cup Day 1: Danish double leadership

Claus Høj Jensen and his two fellow sailors Frederik Dahl and Rasmus Jørgen Andresen from Denmark ended the first day of the H-Boat World Championships as leaders. Reigning world champion Høj Jensen won the first of two races sailed today and came third in the second.

Equally behind on points is Anders Bertelsen, third in the 2021 World Cup and Høj Jensen's compatriot, in second place. The reigning German champion, Thomas Kausen from the Berlin Yacht Club, follows the Danish double leadership as the best German. The technical chairman of the H-Boat Class Association, Kausen, said in the evening: “We had good conditions and a good wave today. Overall, the sailing was a bit tricky and quite demanding. Some coped with it better than others.”

Holger Köhne, Warnemünder Woche-Winner 2021 and best German at the H-Boat World Championships last year in Denmark, is currently in fourth place.

“We had two good races today and I think it was a great start to the H-Boat World Championship,” said Peter Ramcke, sports director Warnemünder Woche. The third race of the day was canceled today by the race committee because the wind was too strong.

Tomorrow there are three races on the program for the H-boats. First start is at 11 a.m. The World Cup runs until Friday.
