"Size 'L' is Out!"

The request from the press office Warnemünder Woche: “Write a portrait of Conny Kunna, who has been involved for so long Warnemünder Woche committed!” No sooner said than done! But Conny, as everyone here on the middle pier calls her, is not enthusiastic about our request.

“I will only be available to answer your questions if there are three of you. The three of us have been here in the tent on the grounds of our club for years. Tina Bohn is there and Karin Seemann, who not only distributes 120 packed lunches, but also tops the rolls that are in the big bag to satisfy the hunger of the volunteer sea helpers on the start and finish boats or those of the jury.

The women meet at least ten days before the opening ceremony so as not to get confused when distributing the many necessary little things during the event. Conny explains that everything is sorted exactly as specified. What is all this? Each of the 300 volunteers receives a polo shirt and a cap. Food vouchers must be counted and handed out precisely, sailing bags, etc. with the sailing instructions must be prepared. The women hold event tickets for special events in Warnemünde and drinks are handed out. This is by no means the full catalog of things that are managed here under the tent roof.

A sailor from a friendly Berlin Yacht Club has just arrived and is on duty on a starting ship. He's late. “Sure, we’ll pick out another T-shirt. But size 'L' is already out.” Tina Bohn gave him an XXL. “He will be happy when it blows at sea and he can put a sweater under his shirt.” This way, everything will fit well and fit the woman and man.

“Most of those we clothe and provide with packed lunches are happy about this service. But sometimes our smile disappears when someone changes their tone, takes everything for granted and makes demands. After all, we do everything on a voluntary basis and without the women and men who often give up their vacation without pay, the... Warnemünder Woche cannot take place,” explains Conny, who can appear quite energetic and meticulously guards all the goods under “her” roof. Even if size 'L' is already out of the extremely coveted T-shirts this week: the tent of the three women, who are the girls for almost all information, is accessible to young and old - they have simply known each other for a long time and like to come stop by for a chat.
