Thank you for volunteering

A turbulent but successful year lies behind the makers of the Warnemünder Woche. Thanks primarily to the work of the many volunteers, the 83rd edition became an event that visitors, participants and organizers alike will remember fondly.

Over 300 people help Warnemünder Woche every year to what it is: one of the largest regatta events in Germany and a huge summer festival that attracts thousands of people to Warnemünde. The tasks undertaken by the volunteers are as varied as the event itself Warnemünder Woche works like a perfectly coordinated gearbox in which many gears mesh together.

“After last year's cancellation due to corona, we did everything we could to be able to hold an event this year that does justice to its great name and tradition. I think we succeeded,” says Ralf Bergel, honorary chairman of the Warnemünder Woche, where all the threads of the regatta organization come together. “The many helpers are the soul of the people Warnemünder Woche. "

“I see it exactly the same way: With all the attention we received this year for the successful implementation of the event, one thing easily gets lost: The Warnemünder Woche would be nothing without the volunteers. You deserve my sincere thanks!” says Matthias Fromm, Tourism Director for Rostock and Warnemünde and adds: “With our full-time organizational structure, we try to support volunteer work as best as possible and thus enable those helping to concentrate fully on their respective areas .” This includes, among other things, coordination with authorities and offices. The short official route often pays off here and thus relieves the burden on volunteer work.

Even on land it would be dreary without the volunteers. “We work all year to achieve a perfect one Warnemünder Woche to get things going,” says Ingeborg Regenthal from the Warnemünde Association, which is responsible for the summer festival Warnemünder Woche responsible for. Especially in this area, new concepts had to be found in this unusual year in order to do justice to the situation, which took a lot of energy and time. “The greatest reward is when we see the satisfied visitors in Warnemünde. By then we will know what we are doing all the work for,” says Ingeborg Regenthal, representing the volunteers at the Warnemünde Association.

Peter Ramcke, sports director Warnemünder Woche, can rely on a well-coordinated team. The man, who you never see without a radio during the event, has been investing his summer vacation and countless hours into it for many years Warnemünder Woche. “A big thank you from me too! Without volunteering, nothing would work here. I wish all the helpers a wonderful Advent season and a Merry Christmas. I'm looking forward to seeing you all again next year. Above all, stay healthy!”

At the end it is Warnemünder Woche much more than a well-lubricated gearbox. It shows what people are capable of who want to make a difference out of joy and idealism. From July 2nd to 10th, 2022 there will be a reunion of friends in Warnemünde.
