Warnemünde traditional costume group on tour
At the Niege Ümgang, around 20 women and men from the Warnemünde traditional costume group took part and then danced on the Kurhausgarten stage. They regularly perform, mostly in the surrounding area. Four days after the Warnemünder Woche But the club is going on a big trip: to Prague for the European Dance Festival.
"We were at the dance festival 20 years ago. This time we're staying there for four days and have a performance with three to four dances per day. Dance groups from 30 to 1840 countries are expected there. We hope it won't be too warm because our costumes are pretty thick," says Klaus Kleinke, deputy group leader of the traditional costume group. In his traditional costume he portrays a policeman, quartermaster and tax collector from XNUMX.
"The costumes make you warm just putting them on," adds his wife Margit, who is wearing her Sunday best. The couple have been active in the traditional costume group for around 20 years and, in addition to dancing, enjoy the social atmosphere of the group. "We meet every Monday from 18 p.m. to 20 p.m. for training. It's always cozy and fun. We dance, but also like to chat a bit. And when there's something to celebrate, we toast together," says Klaus Kleinke. "It's always a lot of fun with the traditional costume group, and we hope that we can dance with them for a long time to come," says his wife. For now, the two of them have a few more performances with the group until the end of August, including in Marielyst in Denmark. In addition to dancing, there will certainly be time for a little socializing with Danish hygge.
