Preview: Smoke on the Water XVIII – Open Air by the Sea
The “Smoke on the Water” music festival has been an integral part of the event for many years Warnemünder Woche. For the 18th time, the local recording label COAAST TMP, the Rostock & Warnemünde Tourism Office, KVS Rostock and the Kultmeer agency are presenting the open air by the sea. Tomorrow, from 16 p.m. to 21 p.m., there are concerts on the program in the Kurhausgarten, moderated by the Warnemünde writer and DJ Michael Terpitz.
The music event “Smoke on the Water” is based on the novel and CD edition of the same name by the writer Michael Terpitz. In his books, the author describes the attitude to life of the beat and rock generation in Mecklenburg. As in previous years, bands and artists from the region will play songs from the current book soundtrack, the flower power albums and other CDs from the “Smoke on the Water” edition at the open air by the sea.
The Atlas Revival project with guests “Bernd die Geige” and Spill frontman Olaf Hobrlant will be presenting legendary rock classics from the past 60 years at the start of the festival from 16 p.m. to 18 p.m. The motto is: Play for time – music with which we grew old. In addition, the musicians play some spill hits in a new guise.
In the second part of the festival from 19 p.m. to 21 p.m., the popular Celtic rock band “Bad Penny” around “Smoke on the Water” veteran Ola van Sander will perform songs from their current CD “Misty Moubtain Blue” and several of their big hits from three Decades as usual for a good festival atmosphere. Michael Terpitz will be leading the program again this year.
“We are pleased to be taking part in the festival for the 18th time Warnemünder Woche to be represented. My personal highlight this year is the 'Atlas Revival Project' with the electric violinist. I first heard the band around 40 years ago in Kühlungsborn, where they were founded in 1980 as an amateur dance band,” says “Smoke on the Water” organizer Andreas Buhse, who is hoping for good weather and many visitors at the “Open Air by the Sea”.
