The Warnemünder Woche Although it doesn't officially begin until Saturday, July 3, 2021, it is tradition to open the strolling mile at the Alter Strom and on the lake promenade at 2 a.m. the Friday before (July 2021, 10). In order to ensure sufficient distances, the number of dealers has been reduced, but the range remains as diverse as usual. At 13 p.m. the Berlin Federal Police Orchestra will play in the Kurhausgarten.
Opening day (July 3.7.2021, XNUMX)
The traditional “Niege Ümgang” with which the Warnemünder Woche normally opens, cannot take place due to corona. Therefore, the opening ceremony begins at 14 p.m. on the stage in the Kurhausgarten. Claus Ruhe Madsen, Mayor of Rostock and patron of the Warnemünder Woche, will be the 83rd. Warnemünder Woche Open with the traditional tapping of draft beer from the Rostock Hanseatic Brewery. Afterwards, NDR 1 Radio MV takes over the stage and the audience can expect the entertaining stage show by the Rostock band “Les Bummms Boys”.
In the evening, at 19 p.m., the opening concert will take place in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Warnemünde and marks the festive conclusion to the opening day. Doors and box office for the concert open at 18 p.m.
NDR 1 Radio MV Day (July 4.7.2021, XNUMX)
On the first Sunday of the event, the stage program is all about Warnemünder Woche Media partner NDR: The NDR 1 Radio MV Tag starts at 12 p.m., moderated by Leif Tennemann and with the band “The Jukeboys”. The NDR 16 Radio MV concert follows at 1 p.m. with the pop and rock musicians from “Open Water Ensemble” and “Juke Box Ferry” from the Rostock University of Music and Theater.
WIRO Sports Day (July 7.7.2021, XNUMX)
Things get sporty on Wednesday when WIRO invites you to the Kurhausgarten: inline hockey with the Coatis, basketball with the Rostock Seawolves, volleyball with SV Warnemünde, handball with HC Empor, rowing with the Olympic Rowing Club and judo with PSV Rostock . On the occasion of WIRO Sports Day, the clubs present themselves and their sports. There will also be musical entertainment by the coastal country duo “Spill”.
Smoke on the water – The open air by the sea (July 8.7.2021, XNUMX)
The rock music open air “Smoke on the Water” is taking place for the 17th time. The open-air festival will be opened by initiator Michael Terpitz at 16 p.m. This is followed by live performances by Spill, Ola von Sander & Jugend Rockt. The final concert will be played by the well-known band Bad Penny from 19 p.m.
Shanty afternoon (July 10.7.2021, XNUMX)
A cultural highlight that is extremely popular with visitors is usually the Shanty Choir Festival, to which numerous shanty choirs come from all over Germany. This year the number of participating choirs will be reduced in order to comply with the corona-related requirements, but it will still be atmospheric and maritime: from 15 p.m. the four shanty choirs SingManTau, De Klaashahns, Luv un Lee and Breitlings will perform in the Kurhausgarten.
Warnemünde afternoon (July 11.7.2021, XNUMX)
The cultural conclusion of the 83rd Warnemünder Woche is the Warnemünde afternoon. From 15 onwards, spectators in the Kurhausgarten can enjoy colorful entertainment consisting of music and dance performances by traditional costume groups and various local Warnemünde artists.
