Donation handover: A red sofa for the Red Arrow
The Warnemünde Association was presented with a special sofa by Warnemünder Week partner IKEA Rostock. But before the handover, the Allen key had to be wielded together.
Warnemünder Woche knows that one of the best places to watch the opening parade “Niege Ümgang” is at the Roter Pfeil artwork on Kirchenstrasse. This is not only because the ambience of the Baltic Sea resort of Warnemünde is particularly beautiful there, but also because the events of the “Niege Ümgang” are traditionally moderated expertly from the Red Arrow and in this way the viewers learn a lot of background information that they would otherwise have might have been missed.
Klaus Möller, the chairman of the Warnemünde Lighthouse Association, who died last year, did this for many years in his inimitably friendly way. “It was a long-held wish of Klaus Möller that the “Niege Ümgang” would be moderated from a red sofa at the Red Arrow. This wish will now be fulfilled posthumously, even if he can unfortunately no longer moderate it himself,” says Ingeborg Regenthal from the Warnemünde Association.
This was made possible by the new partnership Warnemünder Woche with the furnishing company IKEA. Today, June 15th, Claudia Fahlpahl, Local Community Engagement Leader at Ikea Rostock, handed over the red sofa to the Warnemünde Association and said: “We are pleased to support such a traditional opening. The sofa combines round, soft shapes from the past with modern comfort, creating an ideal setting for moderation.”
But an IKEA sofa wouldn't be an IKEA sofa if it didn't have to be assembled first. So some helpful members of the Warnemünde Association met without further ado and screwed the piece of furniture together with specialist Claudia Fahlpahl. This means that nothing stands in the way of successful moderation.
This year, the new chairman of the lighthouse association, Mathias Stagat, and the head of the NDR Baltic Sea studio, Silke Janz, will take a seat on the red sofa and will moderate the Niege Ümgang (July 1st, from 10 a.m.). Klaus Möller would certainly have been happy.
After Warnemünder Woche The sofa will be available to the volunteers of the Warnemünde Association for community and charitable use.
