Summer festival program 2023: Versatile and cheerful

Exactly one month until the start of the 85th. Warnemünder Woche (July 1 to 9, 2023). Preparations are in full swing for everyone involved. So it's time to take a look at the summer festival program, which this year is focused on diversity.

The combination of new and tried-and-tested audience favorites characterizes this year's program. On the “day before the week”, on Friday, June 30th, the strolling mile on the promenade opens and there will be a first appearance: Dr. Pop invites you to a charity music comedy consultation in the Kurhausgarten. 

Saturday, July 1st, will be dedicated to the opening celebrations, starting with the 20th Niege Ümgang across Warnemünde and the subsequent opening in the Kurhausgarten, which will be celebrated by the patron Stefanie Drese, Minister for Social Affairs, Health and Sport and the Mayor of Rostock , Eva-Maria Kröger. The festive end of the day is the concert in the Warnemünde Church.

Immediately after the opening and on Sunday, July 2nd, NDR 1 Radio MV will take over the stage in the Kurhausgarten and celebrate a summer festival with various concerts, moderated by Ralf Markert and Nils Söhrens.

Schlager fans will get their money's worth the next day, on Monday, July 3rd, when Danny Buller, Kay Petersen and the Stressedout party band heat up the Kurhausgarten.

There will be a colorful mix on Tuesday, July 4th, with dance performances and concerts by De Mönchguter Fischköpp and Mr. Zunks Project in the Kurhausgarten.

The Warnemünder Week Wednesday will be the stage for Rostock's sports clubs on the lighthouse forecourt, which will present themselves as part of the WIRO Sports Day. Stella Rockt and the Sophie Huth Band play concerts in the Kurhausgarten on “Ladies Day”.

One of the great classics of the Warnemünde Week program is the open-air seaside “Smoke on the Water”. This year the rock classic will take place for the 6th time on Thursday, July 19th. There will even be a premiere during the evening: Ola from Sander & Friends will present the lighthouse song “The White Tower” for the first time.

On Friday (July 7th) it will be diverse on the stage in the Kurhausgarten. The audience can expect concerts from Sterni.Fritz, the Catwalk ladies band, the Huckstorf Bande and Subbotnik. 

On Saturday, July 8th, the focus is on shanties: the groups and shanty choirs Sing Man Tau, De Klaashahns, Luv un Lee, Breitlings and Blowboys perform maritime sounds in the Kurhausgarten.

A special highlight is the WIRO wish film cinema by the sea. Films will be shown on a large screen on three days (Friday, July 7.7th, Saturday, July 8.7th, Sunday, July 9.7th) at 20 p.m. in the WIRO lookout on the middle pier.
