Musical sea voyage was a magnet for visitors
At the shanty afternoon on Saturday, July 10th, in the Kurhausgarten as part of the 83rd. Warnemünder Woche, audience and choir members were equally satisfied. The listeners applauded enthusiastically, swayed to the beat and joined in the songs with claps. The singers from the women’s crew “SingManTau” described their performance in the Kurhausgarten as “fantastically beautiful” and “in a gorgeous atmosphere.”
“It was very nice to see all the smiling faces and swaying people from the stage. The spectators took part well. We didn’t expect so many visitors,” said choir director Heide Mundo, pleased that the weather was so good. Mundo played the opening concert of the shanty afternoon with her women's crew. Low German songs as well as High German and maritime songs were part of the singers' program.
Afterwards, the Warnemünde shanty choir “De Klaashahns” took over the stage and presented classics and maritime songs with powerful voices such as the global hit “La Paloma”, “Where the Baltic Sea waves reach the beach” and “Off to Californio”. As the shanty afternoon continued, the choirs “Luv und Lee” and “Breitlings” took the large number of listeners on a musical sea voyage in the most beautiful summer weather.
