Outlook for Thursday: “Smoke on the Water XIX” and the Schwerin State Police Orchestra

The Thursday of Warnemünder Woche is traditionally dedicated to the music festival “Smoke on the Water” based on the novel and CD edition of the same name by the Warnemünde writer Michael Terpitz. This year, the recording label COAAST TMP, the Rostock & Warnemünde Tourism Office, the KVS Rostock and the Kulturmeer agency are presenting the festival for the 19th time. From 16 p.m. to 21 p.m., local bands and artists will play cult-status songs from the current novel soundtracks as well as other CDs from the “Smoke on the Water” edition at the “Open Air by the Sea.”
The music festival will be kicked off by the Rostock band “Easterlings”, which emerged from the Warnemünde rock project “Jugend rockt”. “The young musicians grew up with the event. They were there when they were ten or twelve years old and now have their own band,” remembers festival organizer Andreas Buhse from the recording label COAAST TMP. In a new guise, they play songs by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Deep Purple, the Rolling Stones, Puhdys, Pink Floyd, Joe Cocker and many other artists under the motto “Rock Classics/Music we grew up with”.
From 19 p.m. to 21 p.m., according to old tradition, there will be a concert by the popular Celtic rock band “Bad Penny” around “Smoke on the Water” veteran Ola Van Sander. The band plays songs from their current CD “Misty Mountain Blue” and other hits from the past three decades. “'Bad Penny' is always a blast and will be again this year,” says Buhse, looking forward to the concert.
Another highlight awaiting visitors to the music festival is the premiere of the song “There is a Tower”, which is dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the opening of the Warnemünde lighthouse and was written by several local authors. Ola Van Sander will perform the song together with Warnemünde singer Anne Möller.
As usual, Michael Terpitz will be leading the program at the “Open Air by the Sea”.
The Baltic Sea Coast Musicians from the Schwerin State Police Orchestra will play in front of smoke on the water, from 12 p.m. to 13.30:XNUMX p.m., on the stage in the Kurhausgarten.
