Around Bornholm: deep sea adventure for everyone
Around Bornholm is one of the most important long-distance regattas in the Baltic Sea and has established itself over the years as the “Fastnet Race of the Baltic Sea”. Year after year, the offshore regatta attracts ambitious offshore sailors, family crews and charter crews alike. With an exciting mix of sporting competition and socializing, Around Bornholm is an absolute highlight in the sailing calendar.
The long-distance regatta Around Bornholm has continuously developed over the course of its history and has long since established itself as an integral part of Baltic Sea sailing. Around Bornholm is the perfect opportunity for all sailing enthusiasts who want to experience a real long distance – sunrise at sea included.
Around Bornholm offers a challenging route of around 250 nautical miles that can be tackled by experienced offshore sailors as well as family crews and charter crews. The route leads from Warnemünde to the Danish island of Bornholm, which can be left either on the port or starboard side, and back to Warnemünde. The mix of challenging weather conditions, navigational challenges and breathtaking nature makes the regatta an unforgettable experience for the participants.
The race management is in the experienced hands of Laura Kühlewind. She is supported by sea sailing race director legend Eckard Reinke from Kiel, who brings his many years of experience and expertise in organizing sea regattas.
The participating yachts are accommodated in the Hohe Düne marina, which offers the ideal infrastructure for the big ships. The start of this year's Rund Bornholm is scheduled for Monday, July 3rd, at 12 p.m. The evening before, Sunday, July 2nd, the Fare Well Party, also known as the Round Bornholm Party, will take place at 20 p.m. Here the sailors can get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere and get in the mood for the upcoming regatta.
Sailing takes place according to ORC and Yardstick measurements. In addition to single-hand and double-hand ratings, there are separate rating groups for family and charter crews. In addition, the rating from Rund Bornholm together with the medium-distance regatta Mecklenburgische Bäderregatta (starting Saturday, July 1st, 10 a.m.) for yachts in the ORC rating flows into the Warnemünder Woche Cup and for the boats in the Yardstick classification in the WIRO XXL Cup.
