Around Bornholm 2021: Exhausting but successful
This year's long-distance regatta around Bornholm was characterized by light winds, which demanded a lot from the participants. A total of 35 yachts took part. The fastest yacht in terms of time sailed was the TP 52 “Imagine”. According to the calculated time, “Halbtrocken 4.5” was the fastest ship.
ORC rating: “Halbtrocken 4.5” before “Imagine”
Michael Berghorn from Kiel won Rund Bornholm in class ORC I+II with the sailing yacht “Halbtrocken 4.5” based on calculated time. “It was a tough race, but it was worth it to consistently change the sails, even if it wasn't so pleasant at night,” said crew member Linus Döpp after the award ceremony. The Mills 45 boat team needed one day, ten hours and 270 minutes to cover the approximately 54 nautical miles. According to the calculated time, it was two days and 13 minutes and therefore almost an hour less than the “Imagine” from Holger Brückenbach from Greifswald, which was the first ship back in Warnemünde on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday (Line Honors with sailed time: 1 day, 10 hours, 54 minutes, 24 seconds). Thomas Reinecke from Hamburg finished the regatta in third place with the Millenium 40 QB “Edelweiss”. The two former Volvo Ocean Racers “Glashäger” (ex-“Illbruck”) and “OSPA” (ex-“SEB”) gave up after crossing the finish line. A total of seven yachts started the long-distance race in ORC I+II. Three boats competed in the ORC III+IV rating group. John Victorin achieved first place with the Farr 30 “Maiko” from the Warnemünde Academic Sailing Club.
IDM Double Handed Offshore (Long Haul): Höfgen and Kaller German champions
Michael Höfgen from the Kiel Yacht Club and his fellow sailor Eckhard Kaller are the German Double Handed Offshore Longdistance champions. The championship was held as part of the long-distance Bornholm circuit. Höfgen was fastest both in terms of time sailed (1 day, 23 hours, 56 minutes, 6 seconds) and in terms of calculated time with the JPK 10.30 “Lightworks” (2 days, 19 minutes, 58 seconds). Eight crews started the two-handed championship. Second place went to the team Rasmus Töpsch (Yacht-Club Strande) and Max Gurgel (Hamburg Sailing Club). The two were using a JPK 10.10 and needed an adjusted time of 2 days, 57 minutes and 6 seconds. The second part of the offshore championship will take place from September 24th to 28th in Olpenitz.
Bogacki wins the Dehler 30od
The Dehler 30od standard class formed its own scoring group in the starting field of Rund-Bornholm participants. Six ships started. Morten Bogacki from the Düsseldorf Yacht Club and Felix Köster from the Kiel Yacht Club were the fastest in their group. Lena Marie Weißkichel and her all-female crew of the “Playharder” came second. Thomas Schurig and his team from the yacht club finished the regatta in third place.
Yardstick Rating: Ihlenburg in front
Twelve boats took part in the yard stick ranking. According to the calculated time, Uta Ihlenburg from the Mecklenburg Yacht Club Rostock won. “The weather was very strenuous, but the race committee did a great job!” According to the calculated time, the “Galicia”, an FF95, took 2 days, 10 hours and 56 minutes. Second place went to Marie Sommer from the Academic Sailing Club in Greifswald ahead of Rolf Winkler from SSC Süßer See. Skipper Rolf Winkler and his crew from SSC Süßer See won the charter classification for Round Bornholm participants with chartered ships with a Class 40.
