With new sports school to the center of sailing
The completion of the Warnemünde Sports School is progressing, and in 2025 it will become a centre of German and international sailing. The area on the middle pier in Warnemünde will not only be used for the 87th... Warnemünder Woche from July 5th to 13th will help to ensure that the organization runs even more smoothly in the future. A month earlier, the sailors of the 5.5mR class will have the pleasure of hosting their top German event in Warnemünde at the German Open (May 29th to June 1st). And in the autumn, the championship week for Ilca and Skiff classes will be another highlight in the Warnemünde regatta calendar.

Ralf Bergel, Chairman of the Warnemünder Woche, keeps an eye on the progress of the construction on the middle pier and can say: "The organization of the regattas next year can take place entirely in the sports school. The facade of the building is almost complete except for the north side. Inside, doors are currently being fitted, carpets laid and showers installed. Even the furniture construction is already underway," says Bergel.
This means that the 2025 regatta organisation will move from the sailors' home of the Warnemünde Sailing Club (WSC) to the other side of the street in the prestigious new building. Race management, jury and the other organisational units will thus enjoy the view over the berths of the dinghies and skiffs in the future. The more spacious rooms will reduce the amount of tent construction for the organisation from next year. At most a tent as a meeting point for the crew to end the evenings comfortably is still being planned. Whether the WSC home will be used for Warnemünder Woche has already been demolished, however, is not yet certain.
With the completion of construction work on the sports school, the open spaces for dinghies and skiffs will also be larger. From 2025, sailors will no longer have to crowd the jetty areas and will have better access to the berths.
In addition to the already established regatta program for Warnemünder Woche The event schedule is currently being further refined with the traditional Euro Cups of the Ilca classes and the 505s as well as the renewed World Championship in the Zoom8 class. Open skiff sailors and kite surfers would like to set up camp in Warnemünde. But whether this will be possible in 2025 will be examined in the coming weeks.
But the organizers have even more big tasks ahead of them with a second regatta week in the fall. From September 29 to October 5, 2025, the area around the Mittelmole harbor will be full again. With the German championships of the three Ilca classes as well as the Olympic 49er and 49erFX skiffs and the Euro Cup of the 29ers, in which the German championship will also be held, Ralf Bergel and sports director Peter Ramcke expect another 200 to 300 dinghies and skiffs in Warnemünde. The Mittelmole harbor with the Warnemünde sports school will be the perfect location to offer them a high-class event.
