ILCA Europa Cup: Hannah Anderssohn takes the lead
A lot of wind made for challenging conditions on the water today. The 505, 470, Optimists and ILCA 4 were therefore not sent onto the water by the race committee. The ILCA 6 and 7 each completed a stormy race.

“Gusts in the high 20s knot range and wind on average around 22 to 24 knots,” was how Warnemünder Week sports director Peter Ramcke summarized the wind conditions on Sunday afternoon. Add to that the Warnemünde wave up to 1,5 meters high and you had a demanding, albeit shortened, day of sailing. The decision had already been made on Saturday evening to start earlier on Sunday morning in order to complete at least one race before the wind became too strong according to the German Weather Service's forecast. And the weather forecast turned out to be right. “Today was a strong wind day, but we took advantage of it to the second,” said Ramcke happily. However, as a precautionary measure, the 505, 470, Optimists and ILCA 4 were not sent onto the water by the race committee.

The ILCA 6 and 7, on the other hand, competed today on the second day of their ILCA Europa Cup and were each able to complete one race, bringing them to three races so far. Hannah Anderssohn from Warnemünde took over the top position in the ILCA 6 after a day's victory and relegated the previously leading Pole Wiktoria Golebiowska to second place, who only achieved eighth place today after two first places yesterday. Anderssohn is currently leading Golebiowska by two points. The German Pia Kuhlmann is two points behind in third place.

There was little change in the leading group at the ILCA 7 today. Uffe Tomasgaard from Norway once again proved his talent and also won the third race of the ILCA Europa Cup Warnemünde. His compatriot Theodor Middelthon, who achieved second place today, remains unchanged in second place for the time being, followed by the Swede Ludwig Lindqqvist in fourth place and Theo Peyre from France. After finishing 32nd, Ole Schweckendiek slipped to 15th place overall. The best German is currently Tim Conradi from the Duisburg Yacht Club in fifth place.
Since the ILCA 4 were not sailing, there were no changes in the classification. Archie Monroe from Great Britain is still at the top here, ahead of the Thai Weka Bhanubandh in second place and Levian Büscher from Duisburg in third place.
It continues tomorrow at 11 a.m. Sailing will continue until Tuesday.
