Danes with dominant performance

In the overall ranking of the Ilca 7, the Dane Andreas Krabbe-Christensen triumphed without having won a single race. In the Ilca 6, world champion Anne-Marie Rindom impressively showed the competition the difference. With a win and a second place at the end, she prevailed. And in the Ilca 4, there was no doubt about the victory of the Czech Jiri Tomes, who only has first and second places in his series.

After an involuntary rest day due to a lack of wind, the Ilca class started again on their final day of the Warnemünde Week. A light breeze from the east and plenty of sunshine provided the setting for two more races.
Andreas Krabbe-Christensen could have ended his working day after fourth place in the first race, as he was already the winner. But the Dane stuck with it. He was missing one race win in his series, and he would have liked to have won one more. "That was actually my goal for the Warnemünder Woche, unfortunately it didn't work out," said Krabbe-Christensen.
The conditions at the end were not easy, said the Dane: "It was completely different to the previous days, difficult with the different currents on the track. Fortunately, I managed to get two fourth places. I always have good results in Warnemünde." The American Daniel Escudero and the Swede Ludvig Lindqvist followed on the next podium places in the overall ranking.
Anne-Marie Rindom celebrated an impressive return to the regatta circuit in the Ilca 6. The Dane sailed to four wins and two second places in the six races. She left no chance for her compatriot Anna Munch, who had entered the series with two wins but was then unable to keep up with Rindom's class. In third place was the Finn Monika Mikkola, who, like Rindom, started her competition preparation for the Olympic Games with the Warnemünder Woche Both the Finn and the Dane are hoping for a medal at the sailing competitions in Marseille, where Anne-Marie Rindom is arriving as Olympic champion and reigning world champion.
Hannah Anderssohn from Warnemünde did not have a good final day on her home turf. "There were inconsistent wind shifts that I didn't manage to handle well. Nevertheless, it was nice to be sailing at home again." But now sailing is taking a back seat again. "The exam phase for my mechanical engineering degree is coming up. That's what I'm focusing on now. Next year I want to get my bachelor's degree. So I'll decide in the fall whether and how I'll continue with my sailing career. It doesn't feel like I'm finished with it yet. But we'll see in the fall." With places 20 and 44, she slipped to seventh place in the overall ranking of the Ilca 6.
There was a mixed podium at the Ilca 4. The Czech Jiri Tomes could only theoretically be pushed out of first place before the final. And with a win and a second place, he left no doubt about his superiority. Behind him, however, there were a few changes. The Turk Can Matias Gecer moved up to second place overall with a second place in the final race. The Cypriot Anatoli Zoubovski had to let him go by one point, but was able to celebrate bronze in Warnemünde.
It was a long day on the water for the Zoom8 sailors. They sailed three races for their World Championship ranking. And here too, a Dane is in charge: Kare Thybo Kavin is clearly in the lead ahead of the two Estonians Laura Marii Taggu and Mia Maria Lipsmae. Kavin and Lipsmae are continuing their strong results this season. In April, both were on the podium at the European Championship. On Wednesday, the Zoom8 will continue with two more races at 11 a.m.
Meanwhile, progress on the sea course is slow. The long-distance race around Bornholm is suffering from the light breeze. On Tuesday evening, around 30 hours after the start, the "Illbruck" as the leading yacht had reached the north-eastern end of the Danish island and thus still had half of the 280 nautical miles to go. Since the smaller yachts are still much slower, the finish time for the race was extended to Friday, 19 p.m.
