505 European Cup conclusion: “One of the best sailing days we have ever had”

The 505cc European Cup Warnemünde ended successfully today after seven races. The Danes Jørgen and Jacob Bojsen-Møller secured victory ahead of the Rostock local heroes Lutz Stengel and Frank Feller.

Jørgen and Jacob Bojsen-Møller won the 505cc Europa Cup as part of the 84th edition. Warnemünder Woche barely won. The Danes led the field of 39 crews from day one on Saturday until today's conclusion. Their consistently good performance was only interrupted on the second day by damage to the rigging, when the brothers were in the lead in the second race of the day and the forestay broke, making it impossible to finish the race. This race was a canceled result. Your series therefore reads almost perfectly: 2, 2, 1, (40), 1, 4, 2. On the last day, the Warnemünde area was once again in perfection. Jørgen Bojsen-Møller couldn't stop raving: “It was one of the best sailing days we've ever had! It was just great!” The Olympic gold and silver medalist continued: “You couldn’t have better conditions anywhere than here in Warnemünde today. We had fresh wind, great waves and sun.”

Only the duo Lutz Stengel/Frank Feller (both Rostock Yacht Club) posed a threat to the Bojsen-Møllers. The two Rostockers were in second place from the start and were waiting for the Bojsen-Møllers to make mistakes - which didn't happen. With just two points between them after seven races, the two finished the event in second place. Foreliner Frank Feller was very satisfied with the result: “It was great today, everything went well. We defended second place, which wasn't easy because it wasn't really our conditions. With the wind being relatively strong for us, the physically stronger teams are at an advantage.” And helmsman Lutz Stengel was by no means disappointed with second place: “Our performance tended to go up today. We are very satisfied!"
