Two major concert highlights in one day: Glashäger Beach Concerts and “Smoke on the Water XXI”

A true concert marathon awaits visitors to the 87th. Warnemünder Woche on Thursday, July 10. A total of seven concerts will take place at two different venues. "Smoke on the Water XXI – the Open Air by the Sea" will rock from 16 p.m. to 21.30:16.30 p.m. in the Kurhaus garden. At the Glashagen Beach Concerts, the bands Tocotronic, Hinterlandgang, Les Bummms Boys, and Lappalie will perform at the Warnemünde Beach Arena starting at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.

This is the 21st time that the Warnemünder Woche The "Smoke on the Water" music festival, based on the novel and CD edition of the same name by Warnemünde author Michael Terpitz, has become a tradition and has many loyal fans. The recording label Coast TMP, the Rostock & Warnemünde Tourism Office, and KVS Rostock jointly organize this annual crowd-puller in the Warnemünde Kurhaus garden. "Smoke on the Water" is based on Michael Terpitz's books, in which the author amusingly and emotionally touchingly describes the attitude to life of the Beat and Rock generation in Mecklenburg.

The organizers and artists are dedicating this year's music festival to their recently deceased colleague Knut Linke, whose agency Kulturmeer organized and realized the Warnemünde summer concert highlight for 20 years. In addition to some of Linke's favorite songs, local bands and artists will, as usual, perform songs from the current novel soundtrack, the album "Kulturmeer Songs for a Friend," and other CDs from the "Smoke on the Water" edition at the "Open Air by the Sea."

In the first two concerts of the music festival, Olaf Hobrlant, frontman of the coastal country band Spill, and blues legend Peter Schmidt will present various songs from the more than 20 soundtrack albums. Songs such as "Little Town by the Sea," "The First Rays of the Sun," "Warnemünde in the Morning," and "Mullet," as well as the song "Die Gott zur Rechten sitzen," dedicated to all sea rescuers, will be performed unplugged.

In the second part of the festival, as with every "Smoke on the Water" evening, the Celtic rock band Bad Penny, who have since achieved cult status at the "Open Air am Meer," will rock the night away with songs from their latest CD and a host of their biggest hits from three decades. Author and DJ Michael Terpitz will once again host the program.

Glashäger Beach Concerts: top-class live music in the Strand Arena Warnemünde

As part of the 87th Warnemünder Woche On July 10, starting at 16 p.m., the Glashagen Beach Concerts will bring live music directly to the beach for the first time. Tocotronic, Hinterlandgang, Les Bummms Boys, and Lappalie will perform at the Strand Arena Warnemünde at Strandaufgang 1 against a backdrop of the Baltic Sea. Organized by the Rostock & Warnemünde Tourist Office, the concert features a mix of rap, indie rock, punk, and folk. Admission is free.

The opening concert from 16.30 p.m. will be performed by the band Trivia, which has been blending folk, punk, and singer-songwriters into a colorful soundscape since 2013. Inspired by bands like The Pogues and artists like Gerhard Gundermann, the six-member band Lappalie combines joie de vivre, irony, wanderlust, and melancholy in their music and is known for emotionally charged concerts.

Afterwards, from 17.30 p.m., the Rostock band Les Boomms Boys the stage – a concert guaranteed to put you in a good mood. The quintet combines the energy of a brass band with the driving sound of indie, pop, and ska, ambivalent lyrics, and crisp beats. Current world events and personal experiences are the themes of the songs, inviting reflection without losing the groove.

As co-headliner, Hinterlandgang from 19 p.m. and present German-language rap with catchy beats and thoughtful, critical lyrics. Albert Münzberg and Pablo Himmelspach tell stories of their homeland, the East German provinces, in their songs, striking a chord with their audience. Their own parents' GDR past is just as much a topic as growing up in a rural area and current political trends and provincial clichés. The two musicians rap against boredom, clichés, and the shift to the right.

The band, founded in Hamburg in 1993 and successful for decades Tocotronic plays from 20.30:22 p.m. to 14 p.m. at the conclusion of the Glashagen Beach Concerts.
