Last year, the mayor of the Hanseatic and university city of Rostock announced that she would be attending the 87th. Warnemünder Woche to support the volunteer crew for two days to gain insight into their areas of operation. She kept this promise this week and reported at the reception how much she appreciated the commitment of the volunteers, many of whom have been with the Warnemünder Woche support and sometimes travel long distances. "Thank you very much for that, you are the ones who Warnemünder Woche so special,” she said.
Kröger also referred to the topic of the Olympic bid: “Anyone who has seen how great this Warnemünder Woche knows by now that we can definitely host the Olympics, not only because it is beautiful here and we have a fantastic sailing area, the best conditions for athletes and a good infrastructure. We have the best prerequisites and are actively supported by the state government, but we can also host the Olympics because every year we Warnemünder Woche prove that we have the athletes and people from the region who keep coming back and supporting us. That's why we should approach our Olympic bid with courage."
A taste of the 88th Warnemünder Woche, which takes place from 4 to 12 July 2026, saw the traditional unveiling of the poster for the coming year. The design was once again by Pepe Hartmann, graphic designer and long-time event photographer of the Warnemünder Woche"The most important thing is the waves. I always design them first. Otherwise, the basic design scheme remains the same to ensure recognition. The land part is again incorporated by the lighthouse and the teapot. The sails are a bit more prominent this time due to the brighter colors," explains Hartmann.
