Lunch weighs over 900 kilograms
This year, more than 400 volunteers have again contributed significantly to the success of the Warnemünder Woche And anyone who works hard every day must also eat well and sufficiently. Just over 900 kilograms of food were used for the WaWo crew's daily lunch packages alone. That corresponds to the weight of around 20 Optis ready to sail.

The figures on the consumption list for the daily lunch are impressive: the volunteers from the lunch package team spread around 80 kilograms of butter on around 206,5 kilograms of bread over the course of nine days of the event. They topped the sandwiches with a total of around 34 kilograms of cheese and 47 kilograms of sausage. Two kilograms of lard were also used.
The volunteers got their vitamins from a good 70 kilograms of bananas, 85 kilograms of apples and 105 kilograms of pears. Mini cucumbers with a total weight of 172 kilograms ended up in the lunch bags, as did 1.153 small packaged pieces of cheese and an impressive 960 mini salamis.
Ten and a half kilograms of glucose and 778 cereal bars provided additional energy between meals. Two kilograms of various types of fruit gums delighted the sweet-toothed members of the team every day. Hot drinks contributed to the relaxed break in the crew lounge. Around 24 kilograms of coffee beans and ten kilograms of cocoa powder were used in the process.

For the volunteers to be there every morning in the Warnemünder Woche Three women, who also worked on a voluntary basis, made sure that the crew could pick up their packed lunch early in the morning, made sandwiches, filled paper bags with food and also took special requests into account. Labeled with the names of the individual crew members, the bags were lined up on the tables on the grounds of the Warnemünde Sailing Club every day. The three women from the packed lunch service, who were always in a good mood, were sure to be thanked by the volunteers when they picked up their daily "breakfast sandwiches". And the joy of receiving an extra chocolate bar was sometimes great.
In total, the 86th Warnemünder Woche Over 400 volunteers were involved. Around 240 of them supported the sailing area and helped the sailors on land and on the water, from pulling the slipway and scrubbing the ramp in the harbor to helping out on the starting boat.
But the land program was also largely only possible thanks to the support of volunteers. 70 to 80 members of the Warnemünde Association alone helped to organize the summer festival - for example the Niege Ümgang - with their commitment. Between 30 and 40 people volunteered to help with the dragon boat festival on the Alter Strom. The organization and implementation of the beach sports tournaments was also in the hands of volunteers. Around 40 of them were involved in beach handball, around 25 in rugby and another ten in lacrosse.
Many thanks to all the volunteers of the WaWo crew who contributed to a successful 86th. Warnemünder Woche Only together can such a comprehensive and varied program be realized!
